Abstract

ABSTRACT Nur Rohmat Sholihin (NIM. 13120034). Improving student's interest to learn English Using power point media at eight grade of junior high school 7 Bojonegoro. Classroom action research. Thesis. English Department, Faculty of Language and Arts, IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro. Keywords: Improving, Middle School students, Power Point, Classroom Observation Research English is an international language that has globalized in this modern era. Reading, writing, listening to language skills is what students should be interested in. But in reality students tend to be lazy and prefer other lessons that are easier. In this thesis the author wants to know how much interest the eighth grade students of Bojonegoro 7 Public Middle School in learning English. There is a fundamental problem that the author wants to address, namely; How to improve the student's interest to learn English at eight grade of SMPN 7 Bojonegoro using power point ?. Since teaching English students tend to be lazy and have little interest in learning English with learning research using this power media is expected to increase student interest in learning English. The purpose of this study is; to find out the cause of students' interest in learning English is weak. This research will provide various information regarding students' interest in learning English. Using power point media will increase students' interest in learning English with a slide show in the form of audio visual. Data collection techniques are using interviews and tests of students' ability in English. The test results show that in the pre cycle that was competent was 39.3% of the learning before using power point media. After using power point media, namely in cycle 1 there was a slight increase reaching 60.7% but it still has not increased significantly, then tried with the next stage in cycle 2 here has shown a significant increase which can reach 89.3% of 28 students in the class. That means it works
