English Department , Faculty of Languages and Arts Education IKIP PGRI BOJONEGORO.Advisor: (I) Chyntia Heru Woro P., M.Pd, Advisor: (II) Fitri Nurdianingsih, M.Pd. Key words: Error Analysis, Types of errors, Descriptive Text, Using Simple Present This final project is the research about an analysis students’ errors of using simple present tense in writing descriptive text made by the seventh graders of MTS Assalam Bangilan – Tuban, East Java.The researcher used the descriptive qualitative research design. The purposes of this research are to find out the dominant errors and identify the possible causes of errors of simple present tense in writing descriptive texts. The population of this recearch was class VIIB MTS Assalam Bangilan – Tuban, East Java in the academic year of 2018/2019. Which 29 students were choosen as the sample and the recearcher used proportioanal random sampling was used to collect the data proportionaly . The data was collected by using test, document analysis and questionnaire. The result of the analysis which are classified into omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The recearcher found 67 total of errors consisting of 27 errors of omission or 40,30 % , 18 errors of addition or 26,87 %, 17 errors of misformation or 25,37 % and 5 errors of misordering or 7,46 %. The researcher found some possible causes of errors , they are carelesness, first language disorder and translation.After knowing the types of mistakes made by students, the teacher must be more motivating, pay attention to the teaching and learning process of writing well and also emphasize the material which according to students is considered difficult.
