Abstract
This study aims to (1) describe and determine the style of language contained in the novel Perempuan Shadow by Netty Virgiantini. (2) to find out whether the novel Perempuan Shadow by Netty Virgiantini can be used as an Indonesian language learning material in high school. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection procedure in this study is in the form of text, so the data collection method uses a recording system. The data analysis technique used is through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The object of the research is the style of language in the novel Perempuan Shadow.The data of this research are in the form of excerpts of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences which contain figurative language. The results of this study are: 1. Comparative language style includes: (21 data, association 13 data), (symbolic 3 data). 2. Repetition language style includes: (anaphora 4 data), (repetition 1 data), (alliteration 8 data), (anadiplosis 3 data), (mesodiplosis 3 data). (3) Satire language style includes: (cynicism 1 data). (4) Contradicting language styles include: (antithesis 1 data), (eponym 1 data). (5) Affirmation language style includes: hyperbole (10 data), climax (3 data). The relationship between these analytical activities and learning in high school is the existence of basic competencies. At KD 3.9 namely analyzing the content and language of the novel with the aim of finding the content (intrinsic and extrinsic elements) and linguistics (expressions, figure of speech, proverbs) of the novel.
