Abstract

The value of education is something that is considered the truth and is able to make a person do the right thing in his life and the surrounding environment.This study aims to (1) describe and determine the educational values contained in the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata (2) find out whether the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata can be used as learning material in high school. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection procedure uses note-taking and listening techniques, the analysis technique used is through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions, the object of the research is the educational values in the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata.The data of this research are in the form of quotations of social values, moral values, religious values, cultural values which contain educational values. The results of this study are: (1) the value of social education (there are 9 data), (2) the value of moral education (there are 9 data), (3) the value of religious education (there are 5 data), (4) the value of cultural education (there are 1 data). The relationship between this analysis and learning in high school is found in basic competencies. On basic competence 7.2 Analyzing intrinsic and extrinsic elements in Indonesian novels/translations. Keyword:Educational Value, Novel
