Abstract

Abstrak This study aims to determine the psychology of the main character in the novel Trauma by Boy Candra using Abraham Maslow's theory. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research that uses a textual approach to psychology. The thing studied in this study is the psychology of the main character in the novel Trauma by Boy Candra. Source triangulation is used to maintain the validity of the data collected.The results of this study, the main character contained in the novel Trauma by Boy Candra is Kimara who has a hardworking and loving nature. There are five types of psychological elements in the novel Trauma by Boy Candra which have been analyzed by researchers, including physiological needs (there are 14), the need for security (there are 3), the need for love and belonging (there are 7), the need for self-esteem (there are 7). ), self-actualization needs (there are 4). These five elements of psychology often appear in the novel's literary stories. The relationship between the main character's psychological analysis activities and learning in junior high school is the existence of basic competencies. 13.1 Identifying the characters of the youth novels (original or translated) that are read. Thus, the novel Trauma by Boy Candra can be used as an Indonesian language learning material in junior high school.
