Abstract
Abstrac This study aims to describe the intrinsic elements of 5 short stories in the January 2021 edition of the Jawa Pos newspaper. This type of research is a qualitative research using qualitative descriptive research methods. Data collection was done by reading and note-taking techniques, namely reading the short story data first and then recording the data obtained. The data sources of this research were obtained from 5 short stories in the January 2021 edition of the Jawa Pos newspaper. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the intrinsic elements of 5 short stories in the January 2021 edition of the Jawa Pos newspaper were found to be more dominant, namely social themes, with a more dominant plot, namely backward plots in several short stories, the dominant point of view used is the first person point of view, the language style is more dominant with the hyperbole type of figure of speech. Thus, the results of the intrinsic element analysis in this study are appropriate and can be used as learning in Indonesian language subjects in high school. Indonesian language learning at this high school uses the 2013 curriculum. Keyword: Intrinsic Elements, Indonesian Language Learning in High School
