Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain the characterizations and moral values in the novel Tokyo dan Perayaan kesedihan by Ruth Priscilia Angelina and their relationship with learning Indonesian in high school. Novel is a form of prose fiction carried by certain characters. Besides, a novel contains certain moral values. This study uses a qualitative approach, the data source being obtained from the novel Tokyo dan Perayaan Kesedihan by Ruth Priscilia Angelina. Novels printed in 2020 are printed by PT Gramedia printing press, Jakarta. The data collection was carried out using the reading, listening and note-taking technique in which there were various stages such as survey reading, focused reading and verification reading. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that there are main characters, additional characters, protagonists, antagonists, simple characters, round characters, and typical characters. There are four types of moral values, namely moral values contained in human relationships with other humans, moral values contained in human relationships with themselves, moral values contained in human relationships with God and human relationships with nature.
