Abstract

This study aims to describe the language style and imagery contained in the lyrics in the album Xtravaganza by Boomerang and their relationship to Indonesian language learning in high school. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is the song lyrics in the Xtravaganza album. The collection technique is carried out using documentary study techniques (reading, understanding, taking notes). The data analysis technique uses a semiotic reading model by reading it repeatedly. Based on data analysis, it was found that there is a style of language in the song lyrics in the Xtravaganza album by Boomerang. Aspects of language style there are 3 types of language style or figure of speech including 1) contentious figure of speech 3 data. Includes a) antithesis 1 data, and b) paradox 2 data. 2) the comparison figure of 13 data includes a) synesthesia 1 data, b) hyperbole 3 data, c) hypochorism 1 data, d) personification 5 data, e) euphemism 1 data, and f) symbolic 2 data. 3) figure of speech affirmation of 20 data includes a) repetition of 9 data, b) alliteration of 1 data, c) pleonasm of 2 data, d) tautology of 1 data, e) inversion of 4 data, f) asyndeton of 1 data, and g) clamation of 2 data. There are 4 types of imagery in the lyrics of the album Xtravaganza by Boomerang, including 1) visual imagery with 12 data, 2) auditory imagery with 11 data, 3) tactile imagery with 1 data, and 4) motion imagery with 1 data.
