Abstract

This study aims to describe the inner conflict experienced by the main character in Crowdstroia's novel Rengat which is relevant to learning Indonesian in high school. There are three inner conflicts experienced by the main character, namely anxiety, sadness, and indecision. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The data source was obtained from Crowdstroia's novel Rengat, which was the first printing published by PT Elex Media Komputindo in 2020. The data collection technique used reading and note-taking techniques. The stages of data analysis carried out were reading all parts of the text in Crowdstroia's Rengat novel, underlining and recording data related to the inner conflict of the main character in Crowdstroia's Rengat novel with a literary psychology approach. The result of this research is that there is an unmet need that causes inner conflict in the main character. The inner conflicts include anxiety as much as 9, sadness as much as 6, and indecision as much as 5. Keywords: Character, Literary Psychology, Inner Conflict.
