Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to know how the students’ ability and difficulties in writing recount text. This research takes X TKR 1 students of SMK PGRI 1 Bojonegoro as the subject of this research and the object of this research is the students’ writing ability. This is qualitative case study. The instrument of this research are interview, questionnaire, test, and the researcher also used direct observation as a method for data collection. Based on the result of document analysis, the problems that the students faced were content, organization, vocabulary, language, and mechanics. And the most dominant difficulties in writing recount text were content and organization. The result of the questionnaire showed that the causes of the students’ difficulties in writing recount text were grammatical weaknesses, knowledge and understanding, less practice, and educational background. Keywords: writing, recount text Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan dan kesulitan siswa dalam menulis teks recount. Penelitian ini mengambil siswa X TKR 1 SMK PGRI 1 Bojonegoro sebagai subjek penelitian dan objek penelitian ini adalah kemampuan menulis siswa. Ini adalah studi kasus kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah wawancara, kuesioner, tes, dan peneliti juga menggunakan observasi langsung sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dokumen, masalah yang dihadapi siswa adalah konten, organisasi, kosa kata, bahasa, dan mekanik. Dan kesulitan yang paling dominan dalam menulis teks recount adalah konten dan organisasi. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa penyebab kesulitan siswa dalam menulis teks recount adalah kelemahan tata bahasa, pengetahuan dan pemahaman, kurang latihan, dan latar belakang pendidikan.
