Abstract

Advisor (2) Siti Ermawati, S.Pd.I, M.Pd.I The purposes in doing this research were to know kinds of learning strategies used by good English achievers and to investigate the strategies Implemented by good English achievers. This research uses qualitative case study method. The research was conducted in the tenth grade of Private Vocational High School, Bojonegoro on February 26 and end on March 12, 2019. The sources of data were events, documents and informans. The data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The good achievers learning activities were observed and noted. The data were analyzed using interactive model of qualitative data analysis technique, which includes data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion. Based on the observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documents analysis. It can be concluded that: (1) English learning strategies used by the good achievers, they all had similarities in used learning strategies memory and metacognitive and the other turn out to be the six strategy from oxford. They had time to learning english and they used as well as possible to receive satisfactory results while learning english. (2) Strategies Implemented by good achievers of their learning strategies were all different. Even though they similarities, they all keep tried to improve their english learning by used good english learning strategies. Learning strategies help them to increase their scores and develop their English competence. The awareness of the benefits of learning strategies is important because is stimulates the students to use learning strategies. Learning strategy is viewed beneficial and helpful for students’ English learning and achievement. Learning strategies are considered as one of important factors determining the success of second language learning. Thus, in learning English, the learners should be aware, find and use the most appropriate learning strategies so they can be successful in their learning.
