Key term : Recount Text, Writing The purposes of this research were to find out what the method of teaching writing recount text applied by the teacher and to find out what the problems faced by the teacher in teaching writing recount text. The method used in this study was descriptive method. The research was conducted in the SMP Negeri 3, Bojonegoro, from January 3rd 2019 to July 26th 2019. This research described the teaching of writing process of English at SMP Negeri 3 Bojonegoro. The data was taken from interview, observation,and document analysis. The researcher did interview with 2 teachers, and the observation was in different class, VIII D and VIII F. Based on the on the observation, interview and documents, the researcher concluded that the method that used by the teacher in teaching writing are Problem Based Learning (Teacher 1). This technique uses questioning. Also the teacher present to students as a problem solver to work and decide their goal. The problem can be taken from the text or from the other aspect, such as the incident around the environment, their experiences, etc, and Inquiry Based Method (Teacher 2), this method focuses on vocabulary implemented in writing class.The implementation has been conducted to the second year students of SMP Negeri 3Bojonegoro. The teacher faced some problems in teaching process. The problems were the difficulty in improving the students’ vocabulary, the students’ grammar, different capability ofthe student and boredom. The student’s ability in writing recount text isgood enough. From the analysis that has been done by the researcher, it can be concluded that the teachers should be more effective in teaching writing, the teacher should be motivate the students to be active in teaching learning process, and the teacher should recognize well the character and capability of all students. Also the students must pay attention for the teacher, the students should bring the dictionary in English lesson, the students should be active in the class, the students should practice the vocabularies they have got and the students must be confident. So that they can make a good writing in recount text.
