Abstract

This study aims to determine the teacher's role in instilling the values of polite character in students. This research is the background that the condition of students who have not instilled the values of polite character in the school environment. Based on this, the teacher plays a role in instilling the values of polite character in students. Based on this case, the researcher raised the title of the role of PPKn teachers in instilling the values of polite character in seventh grade students at SMP Islam Nurul Ulum Kemiri Malo, Bojonegoro Regency. This study aims to determine the role of PPKn teachers in instilling polite character values in students. This research includes a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were 1 PPKn teacher at Islamic Junior High School Nurul Ulum Kemiri, and 7 grade VII students. The results showed that the role of PPKn teachers in instilling the values of polite character in seventh grade students at SMP Islam Nurul Ulum Kemiri had gone well, this could be seen from the teacher giving the method used was the teacher had to give examples to students from everyday things. This can be done, starting from talking, behaving, and respecting older people both in the school environment or in the community. The next form is the cultivation of polite values by always respecting older people, reprimanding children who speak impolitely, and giving examples of polite actions. There are two factors that can influence student character values, namely external factors and internal factors. Of these two factors, external factors can be influenced by family, community, school, or association, while internal factors can be influenced by oneself.
