Abstract

The research entitled Improving Poster Writing Ability with Modeling Techniques and Canva Applications for Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Jiken – Blora in the 2021/2022 Academic Year aims to improve poster writing skills using Canva modeling and application techniques. This research is a classroom action research. The method used is contextual learning. The research subjects were students of class VIII B, totaling 30 students. Data collection techniques used are observation (observation), interviews, poster writing tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is a qualitative analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the use of modeling techniques and Canva applications can improve the writing skills of VIII B students of SMPN 1 Jiken. Improvements are seen in processes and results. Improving the quality of the process can be seen in student activities in learning. Improving the quality of the process can be seen from the condition of students who are more active in asking questions, are more enthusiastic, and are more independent. Improving the quality of the process has a positive impact on improving the quality of the results. This can be seen in the results of the poster writing test from pre-action to cycle II. In the pre-action stage, the average score of students was 65, the second cycle was 72.1, and the second cycle was 89.9. Thus, the poster writing skills of class VIII B SMPN 1 Jiken students have improved, both in terms of process and product, after being subjected to Canva's Modeling Techniques and Applications.
