Abstract
This research is motivated by the lack of student motivation, especially in the subject of Civics. In order to increase student motivation, teachers need to innovate in learning, so that students do not feel bored and bored, and more varied and interesting learning media are needed. In this case, the teacher motivates students at SMAN 1 Bangilan in learning Civics for class XI through audio-visual learning media.This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. In obtaining the data, the researcher used the method of observation, interviews and documentation. The subject of this study was one PPKn teacher at SMAN 1 Bangilan, and 6 representatives of class XI students. Data analysis in the study includes the stages of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data using source triangulation, technique triangulation, and "purposive sampling". This is done so that the data that the researcher collects is valid and can be tested for validity. The results showed that the role of audio-visual media in student learning motivation can be seen from the many students who responded to questions from the teacher after the audio-visual media was shown, enthusiastic students who asked the teacher about the material discussed through audio-visual, many students were able to re-explain the contents of the audio-visual media. the material and many students pay close attention to the material delivered through audio visuals. The supporting and inhibiting factors in using audio-visual media, supporting factors for the use of audio visual are the availability of infrastructure facilities in each class, teacher discipline and the availability of time to use audio visual media; In addition, there are inhibiting factors in using audio visuals, namely the limitations of the media, programs that cannot be repeated, students who are late, power cuts, allocation of funds and lighting in the room so that it affects the learning process.
