Syahrul Udin, M.Pd. and Supervisor II Muhamad Sholehhudin, S.Pd., M.Pd Keywords: speech act, representative illocutionary and directive illocution. This study aims to describe the communicative function of speech acts, Representative Illocutions and directive directive Illocutions spoken directly and indirectly contained in the dialogue between characters of the novel Dicta & Law by Dhia'an Farah. This research design uses qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are the communicative function of representative illocutionary speech acts and directive illocutionary speech acts spoken directly and indirectly. The source of data in this study is the dialogue of characters contained in the novel Dikta &; Hukum. Data collection techniques in this study are reading, marking, and note-taking techniques. Data analysis using heuristic analysis. The results of the analysis showed that the communicative function of representative illocutionary speech acts in the novel Dicta and Law contained 48 data consisting of 8 states functions, 5 demanding functions, 11 complaining functions, 6 telling functions, 10 resisting functions, 8 suggesting functions. Then the directive illocutionary speech act in the novel Dicta and Law is analyzed based on the continuity and indirectness of speech. There are 34 indirect speech act data and 50 direct speech act data, the data findings are because in the novel Dicta and Law there is a directive illocutionary speech act communication that describes an action directly or indirectly. And there are 84 data on the communicative function of directive speech acts consisting of 9 commanding functions, 11 requesting functions, 9 pleading functions, 10 prohibiting functions, 8 inviting functions, 5 inviting functions, 10 asking functions, 7 opposing functions, 8 suggesting functions, 4 allowing functions, and 3 advising functions.
