Keywords: Phrases, Collection of Short Stories Letters Sent by the Wind Phrases are one of the objects of study of syntax. Phrases are combinations of two or more words that do not have predicative properties. The use of phrases can support ideas or ideas in a text such as novels and short stories. One of them is a collection of short stories Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro. The collection of short stories Letters Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro was chosen because it contains many forms of phrases in it. This study aims to describe endocentric and exocentric phrases in the collection of short stories Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data in this study are endocentric and exocentric phrases with data sources from the collection of short stories Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro. The focus of this study is the phrase forms in the collection of short stories Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro. The data collection technique for this research is the free viewing technique. The data in this study were analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion or verification. The validation uses triangulation techniques, the triangulation used is theory triangulation and source theory. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that the collection of Short Stories Surat yang Dikirim Lewat Angin by Hari B. Mardikantoro contains endocentric and exocentric phrases. There were 429 data found in the forms of endocentric phrases which included 184 data coordinating endocentric phrases, 236 data attributive endocentric phrases, and 9 data apositive endocentric phrases. Meanwhile, 532 data were found for exocentric phrases consisting of 522 data for directive exocentric phrases and 10 data for non-directive exocentric phrases. Coordinating endocentric phrases are characterized by the fairness of the distribution of elements, namely by the conjunction and or or. Attributive endocentric phrases are characterized by the presence of a central element and a central element as an explanation. Apositive endocentric phrases are characterized by the presence of a core element and a substitute element. Exocentric directive phrases are characterized by the initial element being a preposition. Nondirective exocentric phrases are characterized by a combination of articulations and other words.
