Abstract

English grammar teaching methods, specifically the simple past tense material, frequently face serious obstacles at the senior high school level as a result of orthodox and tedious teaching approaches. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using TikTok cartoon clip media integrated with the artificial intelligence Gemini AI to teach the simple past tense to students. Through the intermediary of this technological integration, learning is expected to become more situational, relevant, and also adaptive for the current digital generation. This study applies a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental model. It involves two tested groups, namely the group receiving the treatment (experiment) and the control group as a comparator. The participants of this research are tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kedungadem, with the sample selected randomly. The data collection process is carried out structurally through a pre-test and post-test. The subsequently obtained data results are analyzed utilizing a series of parametric statistical tests. These encompass the normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using the T-Test. This hypothesis testing functions to meticulously determine whether or not there is a significant difference in the students' pre-test and post-test score results after the implementation of the treatment. The data processing results indicate a significant surge in the experimental class. Thus, the collaboration between TikTok cartoon clips and Gemini AI is proven effective and feasible to be realized as a revolutionary medium in teaching the simple past tense at the senior high school level.
