Abstract

Students Perceptions on Collaborative Narrative Writing Using Google Doc-Mediated Writing Tool by the Eleventh Grade Students of Sma Muhammadiyah 2 Sumberrejo in academic Year 2018/2019. Bojonegoro: IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro Keywords : writing, collaborative writing, narrative text, Google Docs Writing is not an easy matter. Writing includes difficult skill for students. Writing can be a powerful instrument of thought, this happened when they try to write their ideas to attract the readers. Therefore, the researcher want to try alternative ways to write several essays easily using Google Docs mediated. The researcher was interested in these media to collaborative narrative writing, she carried out the research about the students’ perceptions on collaborative narrative writing using Google Docs. The aims of this research is to know the implementation of the students when using Google Docs mediated writing tool. Also, she wanted to know the challenges and the opportunities in collaborative writing of Google Docs mediated. In achieving the objectives of this study, the writer used qualitative case study method condacted to get the data. The subjects of this research were 6 students of eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sumberrejo in academic year 2018/ 2019. The istruments used in this research were interview questions and questionnaire. The results of the research showed that majority of the students perceived the use of Google Docs mediated positively. The students enjoyed the activities in narrative writing using Google Docs. They adimitted that they obtained many opportunities by the implementation of Google Docs in narrative writing, such as they convey their problems or opinions easily, they can build good cooperation with their groups, etc. In the other hand, they were found some challenges in this learning, one of that is less internet connection, etc Beside on the finding, the researcher suggested that it is better for English teachers to apply Google Docs as a media narrative writing in their class, so it’s not boring or monotonous. The teachers should using new innovation tool to write collaboratively in English course. Finally, the researcher suggested that further research be conducted on other aspects of Google Docs mediated writing tool. Then this thesis can serve as the basis for it.
