Abstract

The purpose of this study were : 1. To determine the form of student errors in completing the subject matter of the story of two variable system of linear equations. 2. To determine the factors that cause student errors to solve the problem. This study is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection method that used in this study were observation, test, and interview. Data analysis method were analyze student’s responses and interview with teacher and student. Based on the result of data analysis was concluded the student errors can be grouped into 5 types : 1. Algebra basic concept. 2. Accuracy to solve the story problems. 3. Giving information and solution the story problems. 4. Making mathematic model of the story problems. 5. Processing to translate everyday phrases to mathematic phrases.
