Abstract

Abstract The objective of the research was to find out: (1) knowing the influence of mass media utilization as learning resource in student learning result on the subject social sciences in the class VIII of SMP N 6 Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2016/2017. (2) knowing the learning result on the subject sosial sciences in the class VIII SMP N 6 Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2016/2017. The population of the research was all of the eighth students of SMP N 6 Bojonegoro in academic year of 2015/2016. The sample of the research used cluster random sampling. The sample was VIII G as experimental class and VIII F as control class. Data collection techniques used are documentation method that replicates the result of the final semester of SMP N 6 Bojonegoro in the academic year 2016/2017, and the test method is a written test of 20 multiple choice questions to test the social sciences achievement after their testing instruments. Testing instruments used are validity, reliability test, test distinguishing features, and test the level of difficulty. The variable in this study is a mass media utilization as learning resource as independent variables and learning result as the dependent variable. Prerequisite test used is the test method lilifors normality and homogeneity test using Bartlett test. Data analysis technique used was t test polled variance formula. From the analysis conducted hypotheses obtained value t price table with dk = 58 and α = 5 % is obtained with interpolation formula is equal to 2,004. Price t obtained in the calculation is equal to 2,509. Price t count > t table, thus H_o is rejected and H_a is accepted. The conclusion obtained is that there is a good influence on the utilization of mass media as a source of learning on the result of learning social science subjects in the class VIII SMP N 6 Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2016/2017.
