Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aimed to obtain a description the financial literacy of the students in SMA Negeri 1 Baureno as a whole, based on sociodemographic and socioeconomic background from class XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 academic year 2016/2017. This research is case study with qualitative approach. The object of research is all students XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 with number of 55 students. Sampled by 32 students selected by using accidental sampling. Data were collected by questionnaires, interview, and documentation. Data were analyzed through reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The result showed that: 1) The level of financial literacy from the students of XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Baureno is still low overall with an average value of 20.62, the lowest value 0, and the highest value 50. 2) Based on the sociodemographic background, students XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 in SMA Negeri 1 Baureno which have relatively high level of financial literacy tend to come from the category of male students, aged 16 years, coming from class XI IPS 3, and have learning achievement < 90. While students who have low financial literacy comes from the category of women, aged 17 years, coming from class XI IPS 4, and learning achievement 90 - 100. 3) Based on the socioeconomic background, students XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 in SMA Negeri 1 Baureno who have relatively high level of financial literacy tend to come from the category of students who have pocket money more than Rp. 12.000, feels enough with his pocket money, has an investment, and has both parents (father and mother) working as an entrepreneur. Students XI IPS 3 and XI IPS 4 in SMA Negeri 1 Baureno who have relatively low level of financial literacy tend to come from the category of students who have pocket money Rp. 12,000 down, feeling more with his pocket money, no investment, and having both parents (father and mother) working as private workers. Students who have savings, have high-income parents, and have highly educated parents do not necessarily have a good level of financial literacy.
