Abstract
Abstract: Skills of retelling the contents of the fable story by using story telling method for students at seventhgraden of SMP Randublatung Blora Academic 2019/2020. This research use qualitative research using a case study approach with the subject number of 20 students. Data collection technique using interview, field note and documentation. Data is validated by using triangulation source data and triangulation method. Data analysis techniquesuse content anlysis method beginning from 1) data reduction, 2) data presentation, 3) making conclusion, and 4) verification. The result of this research showed that the text structure of the fable story texs (orientation, complication, resolution and coda) retold by the second grade of students at SMP Muhammadiyah Randublatung Blora had already been referencing the textual fable that corresponds with mulyadi’s theory and friends. The conclusion of the research ara 1) the students relate orientation to the text of the fable story so well,the students are able to unlock the introduction of the charecters places setting and time, 2) students tell the complications of the students in retelling the fable story of the students who are already able to retell the conflict that charaters’ have reached, 3) the students present resolution well, at this stage the students can retell the conflict of the characters reach its climax and also the attitude change of the character in the story, 4) the students present the coda well, the students are already able to convey the of a story and moral message on the fable story text that they tell.
