Abstract

ABSTRACT The novel is a literary work that expresses the aspects of humanity through a fictional process that presents characters and presents a series of events and setting in an organized manner and contains profound psychological value. One novel that contains psychiatric problems is the Aftertaste by Sefryana Khairil. This novel takes the theme of human behavior that has a cold, rude, and tends to be cruel to its employees when in the kitchen. This study aims to describe and explain the aspects of humanistic psychology in the main character with Indonesian language learning in Senior High School. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study using a psychological literature approach. Data analysis techniques in this study used the technique of listening, note taking and drawing conclusions. The result of the study concluded that the humanistic psychology needs of the main character were not all met properly. The dominant aspect of needs in this research is the psychologycal needs of love and belonging. This results of this study can be used as literary learning material in High School. Specifically in basic competencies to analyst intrinsic and extrinsic element of the novel. Keywords: novel, humanistic psychology
