Abstract

ABSTRACT The novel is a literary work that is closely related to the mentality of the characters contained in it.. One novel that contains psychiatric problems is a novel Di Atas Singgasana Cinta by Syiffanis Amaar. This novel tells about the life journey of a young man who experiences various life problems. This study aims to describe and explain the aspects of humanistic psychology main character, and the relationship with Indonesian language learning in high school. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study using a literary psychology approach. Analysis data techniques in this study used the see techniques, note-taking technique, and concluding. The result of the study can be concluded that psychological humanistic needs, such as psycological needs and psychological needs to the main character not are fulfilled well. This makes the figure of the Mahes as the main character who was originally cheerful, has a high spirit, and friendly to be more quiet, timid, moody, often worried, termented, sad, not excited about what he did. The results of this study can be used as literary material in high schcool. Especially in KD analyzes the contents, intrinsic elements, and novel language. Keywords: novel, humanistic psychology
