Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to determine the mathematical connection capabilities of the two-variable system of linear equations in terms of representational connections and procedural connections. This type of research uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class X MIPA 1 MA P2K Al Hidayah Lajukidul who may be 24 students but only 6 subjects were taken based on the high, medium, and low level of mathematical connection ability that had been selected based on the pre-survey that had been conducted. The research instrument consisted of test questions and interviews. Data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman model including data reduction, data presentation, and withdrawal. The results showed that the question no. 1 all research subjects who have the ability to connect and procedural connections, students are able to answer mathematics and answer questions using formulas correctly. In question number 2, only the subject of mathematical connections has the ability to connect representations and procedural connections, other subjects are less precise in the context of mathematical symbols. In question no. 3 only the subject of connection ability does not have representational and procedural skills, students only connect what is known but not complete. In conclusion, the mathematical connection ability of the material of the two-variable linear equation system in terms of representation connection and procedural connection is not evenly distributed.
