Abstract

Abstract : This study aims to determine the difficulties of students in solving math problems on the material of opportunity in class XI MA Integral Luqman Al Hakim. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 13 students of class XI MA Integral Luqman Al Hakim. Data collection methods are observation, tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis with data reduction steps, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From the data from the final test results, it was obtained that the percentage of difficulties experienced by students in solving math problems, the material opportunities included: factual difficulties of 43% which were classified as sufficient, the difficulty level of concepts was 81% which was classified as very high, the level of difficulty of operations / skills was 62% which was classified as high, the principle difficulty level is 89% which is classified as very high. Then 3 students with high, medium, and low categories were selected based on test scores and questionnaire scores, to be used as research samples. The factors that cause students to experience difficulties consist of internal and external factors. Internal factors include: wrong assumptions about mathematics; Lack of students' understanding of the opportunity material; careless; Lack of abilities possessed by students; Less student learning frequency; While external factors include: crowded or less conducive class conditions, the number of activities that students do outside of school hours, the community environment is less supportive.
