Abstract

Abstract : This study aims to determine the difficulty of students in solving math problems on the flat side room construction material in class VIII students of SMP Pancasila. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 24 students of class VIII SMP Pancasila. Data collection methods are observation, tests, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis with data reduction steps, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the difficulties experienced by students in solving math problems on the flat side of the building material included fact difficulties of 62.8% which was classified as high, the difficulty level of the concept was 55% which was classified as sufficient, the level of difficulty of operation / skills was 37.75%. which is classified as low, the level of difficulty in principle is 47.2% which is classified as sufficient 2) factors that cause students to experience difficulties consist of internal and external factors. Internal factors include: wrong assumptions about mathematics; Lack of students' understanding of the material of flat-sided shapes; Lack of abilities possessed by students; Less student learning frequency; While external factors include: crowded or less conducive class conditions, the number of activities that students do outside of school hours, the community environment is less supportive.
