Abstract

Abstrack: (1) This study aims to improve the Motivation of Class VII Students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangan in the Academic Year 2019/2020 through (2) the application of the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 28 students of class VII of State Public Middle School 2 Padangan in 2019/2020. Each cycle consists of four stages of activity, namely planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. Cycle I was held in 1 meeting and Cycle II was carried out in 1 meeting. Data collection in this study used questionnaires and tests. The research instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used a descriptive description of the class action done by calculating the value of the post test results of the Jigsaw Cooperative learning model and the value of the Learning Motivation score, presenting data, drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that: (1) The application of the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning Model can improve grades on social studies subjects for grade VII students, this is evidenced that the average value of post test in cycle I was 72.57 and post test in cycle II amounted to 84.25 or an increase of 11.68. The percentage of completeness of the post-test results of the first cycle was 53.5% and the percentage of completeness of the post-test results of the second cycle was 95% or an increase of 41.5%. (2) The application of the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model can increase the Motivation of Class VII students in subjects This Social Studies proved that the mean score of students' Learning Motivation in Cycle I was 63% and in Cycle II it reached 75.60% or an increase of 13.55%. (Thus it can be concluded that the application of the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning Model can increase Learning Motivation Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangan in the Academic Year 2019/2020.
