Abstract: This study aims to describe the role of teachers in improving student achievement in IPS subjacts in MTs Tarbiyatul Islam. Taking the subjects using random sampling (random sampling). This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research. The subjests o this study were taken 2 students from 31 students in class VII B and 1 teacher. The date colection technique is done by using observation method, interview method, and documentation method. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and data collegtion stages. Based on the research results, the social studies teacher has carried out its role well in improving student achievement. In prelimiery activities carried out by ips teachers by saving gretings, checking attendance and delivering an outline of the scope of the material. In the core actvities, there are several steps carried out by the teacher, namely: observing, asking, collecting and associating, and communicating the result. In closing activieties, the teacher and students make conclusions, conduct assessments of students, and convey learning plans. The social students teacher uses the learning plan as a guide in carrying out learning so that student learning outcomes are good. Keywords: the role of the teacher and learning achievement
