Abstract

Abstract : This study examines the analysis of the characterizations of the novel of ordinary people by Andrea Hirata and its relevance to learning in junior high school. The purpose of this study was to describe the characterizations in Andrea Hirata's novel Orang Ordinary and their relevance to learning in junior high school. This research is a descriptive analytic study. The subject of this research is a literary work in the form of a novel of ordinary people by Andrea Hirata. This research is focused on the characterizations in the novel. Data was collected using reading and note-taking techniques. Data analysis technique in this research is content analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the characterizations contained in the novel of ordinary people by Andrea Hirata consist of the main character, additional character, protagonist, antagonist, simple character, round character, static character, developing character, typical character, and neutral character. Ordinary people's novels are relevant as learning teaching materials in junior high schools because they are in accordance with competency standards, basic competencies and learning indicators contained in the syllabus and lesson plans.
