Abstract

The group discussion method is a learning method carried out by arranging groups and then each group discussing in solving a problem or question given by the teacher. This study aims to find out whether there is an effect of the group discussion method on the mathematics learning outcomes of seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Kasiman. This research is a quasi-experimental method (quasi-experimental design). Data collection techniques through questionnaires and tests. The sample used is 29 students. The instrument form of a description test in the set lesson is through the group discussion method. Hypothesis testing using Simple Linear Regression Test and T Test. The results of this study the effect of group discussion methods on student learning outcomes is 11.79% (0.1179x 100%) and the remaining 88.21% is influenced by other factors outside of this study. Based on the calculation of the T test, it is obtained that tcount = 1.900 and ttable = 1.706 so that tcount DK then H0 is rejected, which means that there is an effect of group discussion methods on students' mathematics learning outcomes.
