Abstract

Aims of this research are to understand the students learning strategies on speaking skill during the spread of covid-19, to find out the obstacles on implementing the learning strategies, to understand how students’ speaking skill while English Course. This research use qualitative descriptive research design. The research conducted in MTs Tarbiyatul Islam Soko. Data collection technique that use questionnaire, interview and observation. Subject of this research are students from class A of seventh grade. There are 34 students, 19 male students and 15 female students. The data analyzed use descriptive analysis method. Finding of this research is most of students from VII A of MTs Tarbiyatul Islam Soko is memory strategy. According to the questionnaire there are 22 students that use memory strategy on speaking skill. The reason is most of students are usually use memory strategy and feel comfortable with this strategy. The main obstacle that generally experienced by students is students’ lack of confidence. For some learning strategy, especially learning strategy that need the other to help the pandemic also give some obstacle. So, to solve the obstacle students must adjust their learning strategy with the condition. Keyword: learning strategy, speaking skill, covid-19
