Hanna Putri, Ningsih 2023. Analysis of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Elements in Novel Lukacita by Valerie Patkar and its relationship to Indonesian language learning in high school. Thesis for Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, Teaching and Education Institute, PGRI Bojonegoro. Supervisor I Sutrimah, M.Pd. Keywords: Intrinsic Elements, Extrinsic Elements, Novel Lukacita by Valerie Patkar, Learning Indonesian in High School The purpose of this research is to describe and explain (1) the intrinsic elements contained in Valerie Patkar's novel Lukacita. (2) extrinsic elements in the novel Lukacita by Valerie Patkar. (3) the results of the analysis of the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of Valerie Patkar's novel Lukacita and its relation to learning Indonesian in high school. The research method used in analyzing Valerie Patkar's novel Lukacita is a qualitative descriptive method. In qualitative research, the presence of the researcher is not determined because the research being studied is in the form of a novel, so it can be done anywhere and anytime, the presence of the researcher is the main data collection instrument. The subjects in this study are intrinsic and extrinsic elements. This study uses primary and secondary data sources, the procedure for collecting data in this study uses parts of primary data and secondary data. The technique used in this research is analysis technique (miles interactive model). The results of the analysis show that (1) the theme in the novel is failure, (2) the main characters in the novel are Utara Paramayoga and Javier Killian Sjahlendra, while the additional characters are Mama Utara, Yasa, Enzo, Mas Floda, Pak Sudibjo, Angkasa Rolando, Aslan , and Rumi. (3) The grooves used are forward and backward grooves. (4) The setting contained in the novel is divided into two, namely the place setting and the time setting. (5) The point of view used is first-person omniscient point of view. (6) The message contained in the novel is to acknowledge self-deficiencies, treat children the way we want to be treated, don't let the bad treatment you received in your past become a weapon that destroys other people's lives, as parents you must have boundaries to guide, not to regulate. and create scenarios. Extrinsic elements include the biography of the author of the novel Lukacita. Furthermore, if it is related to learning Indonesian in high school, this research is related to and appropriate for learning Indonesian in high school, as evidenced by the basic competencies contained in the even semester class XII syllabus, namely KD 3.9 concerning analyzing content and linguistic elements of novels with indicators that students are able to find content (intrinsic and extrinsic elements) and language.
