Abstract
Abstract— This study aims to determine the form of humanistic literary psychological needs of Abraham Maslow for the main character in the novel Adrian & Adelia by Nur Hoiriah, and to describe the relationship between the needs of the main character contained in the novel Adrian & Adelia by Nur Hoiriah and Indonesian language learning in high school. The method used in the analysis is a descriptive qualitative method, with steps in the form of data reduction, data analysis by reading and recording information about the needs of the plot characters, the setting of the main character. The data source for this research is the novel Adrian & Adelia by Nur Hoiriah which is published by ANDAM in 2022. The data collection was carried out using note-reading and analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that: first, the needs of the main character in the novel Adrian & Adelia by Nur Hoiriah there are 5 needs namely (1) physiological needs which include eating, drinking, air, and sleeping, (2) Needs to feel safe and comfortable including self-security own, (3) The need for love and belonging includes love given by family or people around, (4) The need for self-esteem includes wanting to live independently and responsibly, (5) The need for self-actualization is the highest achievement in oneself. . The relationship between this research and learning Indonesian in high school is that there is KD 3.9 in class XII Semester II about analyzing content and linguistic novels.
