Safitri, S. I. N 2023. The Main Character's Inner Conflict in the Novel Serangkai by Valerie Patkar Relation to Indonesian Language Learning in High School. Thesis. Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts. IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro. Advisor (I) Drs. Syahrul Udin, M.Pd., (II) Muhammad Sholehhudin, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: character, literary psychology, inner conflict and learning in SMA. The purpose of this study was to identify and describe the inner conflict experienced by the main character in Valerie Patkar's Serangkai novel, to describe whether the results of the analysis of the main character's inner conflict in Valerie Patkar's novel Serangkai are used as Indonesian language learning material in high school. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The approach used in this research is literary psychology. Data collection techniques used are reading and note-taking techniques. The stages of data analysis carried out were reading all parts of the text in Serangkai novel by Valerie Patkar, underlining and recording data related to the main character's inner conflict in Serangkai novel using a literary psychology approach, clarifying data showing the main character's inner conflict using Abraham's multilevel needs theory. Maslow then connected with learning Indonesian in high school, whether the analysis of the main character's inner conflict in Valerie Patkar's novel Serangkai can be used as teaching material. The results of this study are, there are needs that are not met, causing inner conflict to arise in the main character. The inner conflict includes anxiety, sadness and indecision. Then the analysis of the inner conflict of the main character in the novel Serangkai by Valerie Patkar can be used as teaching material in high school which focuses on how to analyze inner conflict.
