Abstract

THE CORRELATIONS BETWEEN PARENTING STYLE AND STUDENTS’ SPEECH PERFORMANCE AT FIRST YEAR STUDENT OF IKIP PGRI BOJONEGORO Kusuma, Bimantara Ardhi. 2024. “The Correlations Between Parenting Style and Students’ Speech Performance at First Year Student of IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro”. Skripsi. English Education Department. Faculty of Language and Arts Education. IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro. Advisor I Dr. Moh. Fuadul Matin, S.S., M. Pd., Advisor II Okhta Ika Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Times have not only changed scientific things, but also non-scientific things. The development of communication and information technology has also contributed to these changes, including the relationship between parents and Students. This change also results in other changes, namely in the Students, personality, psychology, habits, especially speaking style and ability. The relationship between parenting style and Students's speaking ability will always be discussed in every era and has also been widely studied by previous researchers. The problem formulation in this thesis is "1. Is there any correlation between parenting styles and students' speech performance?" and "Which parenting style has dominant correlations with students' speech performance?". With the aim of finding the relationship between parenting style and students' speech performance and also looking for the parenting style that is most related. This research is qualitative research with a correlation research type. Data collection techniques use documentation techniques, questionnaires, and speaking tests. This research uses instrument tests in the form of validity tests and reliability tests. classic assumption tests in the form of normality tests, heteroscedasticity tests and multicollinearity tests. Multiple linear regression tests in the form of coefficient of determination tests, simultaneous tests and partial tests. The data obtained during data collection was processed and then a significant relationship was found between parenting style and student speech performance. The results of this research found a significant relationship between parenting style and students' speech performance. while the parenting style that has the most dominant relationship is the authoritative parenting style.
