Abstract
Abstract. The goal of this study was to enhance the speaking skills of grade VII students at Mts Bahrul Ulum, Bulu, during the 2023/2024 academic year through the short film media. This research was categorized as action research and was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of three meetings. The primary subjects of this study were 21 students from class VII at Mts Bahrul Ulum, Bulu. The research process included reconnaissance, planning, action, and reflection stages. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected. Qualitative data came from observations and interviews with the English teacher and students, which were then converted into field notes and interview transcripts. Quantitative data were obtained from speaking tests conducted before the implementation of the action and at the end of each cycle. The study adhered to several validity principles: democratic validity, outcome validity, process validity, catalytic validity, and dialogic validity. To ensure trustworthiness, the research employed three triangulation methods: time triangulation, investigator triangulation, and theoretical triangulation. The actions taken in this study included using video clips, providing additional explanations on grammatical rules, correct pronunciation, vocabulary-building activities, preparing worksheets, and effectively utilizing the LCD projector.
