Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to find out the causes of low students interest in learning online. This study used qualitative research methods, in order to obtain information about how students interest in learning english online. The research was conducted in 8A grade students in SMP N 5 Cepu. Data is collected through questionnaire and interview are conducted online through google form. The results of this study indicate the cause of low students interest in online learning (1) The feeling of forgetfulness students have in collecting assigments is very high. (2) Students do not understand english texts. The reason they are lazy to do assigments is that many students do not understand english texts, so they feel difficulties do not want to do or collect assigments (3) Limited quota or signal so that hinder the collection of assigmets. Online learning really requires a supportive signal so that learning can run smoothly. It can be concluded that online english learning is very ineffective for students and teacher, so that appropriate learning is not created. Key words: interest, online learning
