Abstract

ABSTRACT Thesis with the title "Implementation Of Printed Media Comic Script Materials In Improving English Vocability Class Vii-D SMPN 1 Soko 2018/2019 written by Situs Indrasdiasa,, NIM. 15120034, English Department of IKIP Bojonegoro by Mr. Refi Ranto M.Pd and Siti Ermawati, M.Pdi Keywords: Media, Printed Comic Script, Vocabulary The research in this thesis is motivated by the problem of the delivery of English learning, many students consider that these subjects are very difficult to understand because of differences in pronunciation and writing. This condition is exacerbated by the delivery of monotonous material, so students experience difficulties in English subjects. This happens because the method or media used by the teacher is still traditional. One of the media offered by researchers is to use Printed Comic Script media, it is hoped that using this media can help students understand and analyze vocabulary in English lessons, so that learning objectives are achieved. In this study has two focus issues, namely: How is the process of teaching English with SMPN 1 Soko Tuban and how the pictorial puzzle media developed can improve students' English vocabulary mastery at SMPN 1 Soko Tuban. With the focus of the problem is expected to lead to the research objectives, namely: to know the process of teaching English using the Printed Comic Scrip media developed at SMPN 1 Soko Tuban and to find out how the use of SMPN 1 Soko Tuban developed media can improve the mastery of English vocabulary at SMPN 1 Soko Tuban. This type of research is a classroom action research designed using the Kemmis & Mc cycle model. Taggart. Where in the implementation of the action of PTK consists of 4 stages, namely: planning, action implementation, observation and reflection, with the aim to compare the values before the action and after the action. Data collection is done through tests, interviews, observations and documentation. The learning process of English using the developed pictorial puzzle media is 1). The first step the researcher conveys the lesson objectives to be achieved in these lessons and motivate student learning, 2). a picture of the name of a place in school for students. 3). Then the next teacher gives the task, the teacher gives the task to students both individually and in groups. 4). Next task implementation. In carrying out this task the teacher always provides guidance or supervision, provides encouragement so that the child wants to work. 5). Students take responsibility for assignments, give reports on students' assignments either verbally or in writing of what they have done, there are questions and answers or group discussions. 6). The teacher presents several questions to students to check their understanding of the material and give appreciation to individuals and groups After the researchers conducted research using the Comic Scrip media in English subjects, it was concluded that by using the Comic Scriple media in English learning students more easily understood the material (increasing iv students' ability to understand the material), increasing the activeness and attention of students in learning, can improve the vocabulary of students of class VII-D SMPN 1 Soko Tuban This can be seen from the teaching and learning process for the results of observations in the first cycle observations of the researchers' activities 81%, 85% of student activities, included in the good category, in the second cycle of observation of 95% research activities, 96% student activity included in the very good category. Likewise with the results of the evaluation for the first cycle that is 79 for the second cycle that is 83.9, from the evaluation results it can be seen that there is a significant increase in the average student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II which is 4.9. And from the use of the Printed Script media it can be seen an increase in the learning process that is a high sense of curiosity of students for what is not yet known, the enthusiasm of students in doing the tasks given by the teacher, and try to do the task on time, look happy and happy During the lesson, ask if you don't understand something. From these data it can be seen that the use of pictorial puzzle media can improve the vocabulary mastery of English subjects of class VII-D students of SMPN 1 Soko
