Abstract

The background in this thesis research is the lack of student creativity in solving story problems in mathematics. The majority of students think in learning mathematics is still analytical with problems that are routine or often used. Students in solving problems still often just memorize formulas. Learning that does not emphasize students' creative thinking processes, students will find it difficult to learn mathematics. This study aims to analyze students' creative thinking skills in solving problems on a two-variable system of linear equations. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research are students who have received material on a two-variable linear equation system. Data collection methods used are written tests and interviews. The validity of the data was checked using the triangulation method. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students reached the level of creative thinking skills in solving two-variable system of linear equations. The level of creative thinking ability achieved by students is creative thinking level 0 (TBK 0), creative thinking level 1 (TBK 1), and creative thinking level 2 (TBK 2). Students achieve different levels of creative thinking skills because the ability to solve problems with a system of linear equations with two variables is different for each student. Clarification of students' creative thinking level is based on the achievement of indicators of creative thinking skills, namely fluency, flexibility, novelty combined with elaboration.
