Abstract

Abstract The Sweetest Memories novel was first published in July 2018. Since the emergence of the novel The Sweetest Memories received positive responses from connoisseurs of literature. This researcher aims to describe and explain: (1) the inner conflict of the main characters, (2) the psychology of literature, (3) the relationship of the novel The Sweetest Memories with Indonesian language learning in high school. The research of this literary work aims to describe the inner conflict by using the approach of Abraham Maslow's literary psychology in the novel The Sweetest Memories and to find out its relationship with learning Indonesian in high school. This study uses qualitative research with content analysis methods. The data in this study are sentences. The data source used is the novel The Sweetest Memories by Ratiza Maudi. Data collection techniques using note taking, because the data in the form of text. The data analysis technique uses three components which include data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion of this research is the existence of inner conflict between the main characters including: (1) physiological needs which include: a. food and drink needs, clothing needs, resting needs, (2) security needs which include: freedom from threatening forces such as fear, anxiety, danger, and unrest, (3) love and belonging needs which include: bonding emotional with the opposite sex, (4) the need for self-esteem in the form of an independent attitude of the main character, (5) the need for self-actualization. The results of the above research can be used as teaching material by learning Indonesian in high school. Keywords: The Sweetest Memories novel, Inner Conflict, Literary Psychology
