Abstract
ABSTRACT The aim of this research is 1) To describe the difficulty of understanding basic mathematical concepts in Grade VII students of MTs Hidayatul Athfal, 2) To describe the factors that cause difficulties in understanding basic mathematical concepts in Grade VII students of MTs Hidayatul Athfal. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research, Data collection in this research was carried out in the form of observations, interviews and test. The sample in this study was grade VII students, amounting to 6 students. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. This research can be concluded that there are some students who still cannot understand the basic mathematical concepts, especially the material of arithmetic operations.
