Abstract
Muntaha, (2025) The Effectiveness of the Discussion Method in Pancasila Education Learning to Develop Tolerant Behavior in Students at SMP Negeri 1 Sugihwaras Pancasila education in Indonesia plays a crucial role in building student character, particularly the value of tolerance. However, teaching methods are often theoretical and therefore less effective in instilling these values. The discussion method, which involves active student interaction, is considered to enhance their understanding of the value of tolerance. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the discussion method in Pancasila Education learning to develop tolerant attitudes in students at SMP Negeri 1 Sugihwaras. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological study was used in this study. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify key patterns in learning. The study shows that the discussion method improves students' understanding of the concept of tolerance, builds empathy, and encourages cooperative behavior both inside and outside the classroom. Obstacles such as uneven participation and the dominance of certain students were successfully overcome through role-sharing strategies in the discussions. The discussion method has been proven effective in developing tolerant behavior in students. This research contributes to the development of interactive and inclusive character learning methods and offers practical guidance for teachers in implementing discussions in learning.
